Project of the Year Award for the Griffiths Pedestrian Overpass and Urban Trail Project (Public Works Association of British Columbia)

Griffiths Overpass

The Griffiths Drive pedestrian overpass near 14th Avenue forms part of the Urban Trail that provides access from the developing Edmonds Town Centre South residential community to Byrne Creek Secondary School.

The pedestrian bridge comprises a main arch span for the portion over the roadway and a series of elevated “jump spans” beyond the arch at each end to support the bridge deck until it meets the at-grade urban trail. The bridge has tension cables and a graceful long-spanning arch.

In 2008, this project was honoured with the Project of the Year Award by the Public Works Association of British Columbia.
