The Burnaby Building Department maintains the quality of life for Burnaby's citizens by ensuring that safety codes are followed and by enforcing the City's construction related bylaws. Approximately sixty people work in the department, in Permit Processing, Front Counter and Records, Plan Checking, Building Inspections, Plumbing and Gas Inspections, Electrical Inspections, Bylaw Services and Project Management.

Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM (Pacific Standard Time) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursdays.

Inspections
All Building, Plumbing, Gas and Electrical Inspectors are available for phone calls and to answer questions at the Building Department counter from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM Monday to Friday.

Inspection requests for the following day can be made by calling 604-294-7130 between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM

Cut Off Times: Building Permits
We will not accept Building Permit applications, or issue Building Permits after 4:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and after 7:00 PM on Thursdays.
