Temporary POD - Container Placement

For POD-containers to be placed on-street:

  • A written request must be submitted to the Engineering/Traffic Department
  • Request must be submitted at least five working days in advance of placement
  • The request must include a site plan showing the placement of the bin/trailer and any delineators needed to ensure safety
  • Approval of storage on the street is not guaranteed until the location is inspected by the City

Whenever possible, containers/pods should be placed on requester's property. Please note that pods being used for moving purposes are typically only approved for a maximum of 5 days of storage on the street. If suitable reasons are given as to why more days are required, the maximum may be increased.

Placement of containers/pods without approval by the City of Burnaby may result in fines and/or removal of the containers/pods at owner's expense.

What are the fees?

Charges for containers/pods are $15.00 per day as well as a one time processing fee charge of $100.00. For containers/pods on the street for less than 5 days, fees and insurance may be waived but a written request and site plan must still be submitted in advance detailing location and dates of placement.
