This public information meeting will provide you with the information you need regarding the City’s plans to respond to the 2012 Fraser River Freshet and any potential flood.

Where: Riverway Golf Course Clubhouse, 9001 Bill Fox Way, Burnaby, BC
When: Tuesday, May 22, 2012, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Note that a public presentation will be made at 4:30 p.m. and repeated at 6:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Please ensure you meet all the required qualifications before completing the Application Form. Applicants must meet all of the required qualifications in order to be Considered for an Interview

  • Canadian Citizenship or Landed Immigrant status (include copy of birth certificate or other proof of entitlement to work in Canada, i.e. Passport)
  • High School Graduation or Equivalent (include copy of diploma)
  • Valid BC Class 3 Driver's Licence without restrictions, with airbrake endorsement and a good driving record. More than six points in the last three years is considered excessive (include copy of licence and driver's abstract available from the Motor Vehicle Branch - Licence Office)
  • No conviction of a relevant criminal offense for which a pardon has not been granted (completion of criminal record search not required at time of application).
  • First aid training within the past three years (include copy of certificate)
  • Physically fit and able to complete a Physical Abilities Test
  • 2 years work experience

Fire - Training - Live Fire

Recommended Qualifications

  • Higher level of first aid training (include copy of certificate)
  • Aquatic experience and/or training (include copy of certificate)
  • Building construction training or experience, mechanical training or experience or heavy equipment operation training or experience
  • Post-secondary education, training, apprenticeship (include copy of certificate, diploma, degree)
  • Fire service related courses/National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 (Firefighter I and II) Certification (include copies of certificates/proof of completion)
  • Training and/or experience using computer software
