Creekside Youth Mural

Creekside Youth Mural

Artists Anna Talbot and Malika Belford led Burnaby youth in designing an outside mural at the Creekside Youth Centre. The objective was to support community development, to give youth a sense of ownership and pride of the area and to provide an opportunity to have a constructive outlet for creativity and self-expression.

Through discussion, the youth explored ways  to represent themselves and the Centre. They learned how to look at visual representation and collaboration by joining multiple ideas to create one composition. Colour, composition and text were explored resulting in the final design depicting music and landscape as the theme.
