Welcome to the City of Burnaby's Engineering Department. The Department is a dynamic one, reflecting ongoing changes within our City and levering technology to better manage those changes. From the Global Positioning Unit employed by the Survey Department to the Thermoplastics used in crosswalk marking, the Engineering Department seeks to employ the most effective current technologies to provide Burnaby's citizens with the most efficient service. The Engineering Department installs and maintains its citizen's streets, traffic signals, signs, water and sewer mains and connections. It administers contracts for Capital Works projects. It provides information and assistance to other city departments, committees, other agencies, professionals, contractors and consultants and the citizens of Burnaby.
Throughout the site you will discover links to areas of interest within the Department from Environmental Services to the Traffic Division. The Mapping and Drafting Division for instance, is in the process of preparing maps for the use of Burnaby's citizens such as the Burnaby Map - [NEW WINDOW] as well as other items for internal use such as the Water mainline map. The Occupational Health and Safety division actively promotes a healthy and safe work environment. The Environmental Services Division develops and implements programs to preserve and monitor environmental quality within the City of Burnaby. Garbage and Recycling services provided to both single and multi family residents, as well as small businesses, make environmental choices easier for customers and citizens.
