Introducing Burnaby’s Grade 5 Gets Active Program
– A Pilot Project
Burnaby was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of six communities across Canada to be part of a pilot project focusing on increasing physical activity in Grade 5 students. The pilot project involves a free drop in pass for all Burnaby Grade 5 students. In addition, some students will be asked to complete a survey at the beginning of the project and throughout the school year. This will help to provide valuable research information on the effects of offering the free passes. Students will be receiving the pass on October 23. For more information, click here.
What Services are involved?
• Public / Family / Loonie Swim – indoor / outdoor pools
• Public / Family / Loonie Skate – equipment provided
• Sports Drop-in – gymnasium-based sports activities
• Driving Range – club use and 1 bucket of balls per visit
All Burnaby Grade 5 students will receive a Pass to Pass form from their classroom teacher. Students will then take the completed Pass to Pass form to their local recreation facility where they will be issued a b card. Every time they come to a Burnaby recreation facility, students must bring their b card and swipe it at the front counter to be admitted. For a complete schedule of activities, >> click here.
