As of the end of 1996, the City operates and maintains 678 km of water main, 2,942 hydrants and 36,000 water services. The Greater Vancouver Water District (GVWD) supplies our water to us. The water supplied comes from three reservoirs the GVWD own, the Capilano reservoir, Seymour reservoir, and the Coquitlam reservoir with the majority of the water supplied to Burnaby from the Seymour reservoir. Our crews respond to emergency calls for broken water mains or leaky services and undertake regular maintenance of the valves, hydrants, pump stations and reservoirs that make up our water system components.
