Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment Welcomed

Burnaby, BC– The provincial government announcement of long-awaited plans to redevelop Burnaby Hospital into a larger, modern facility is good news for the whole community, and no one is happier than Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley.

The Mayor joined Premier John Horgan, Health Minister Adrian Dix and other dignitaries to publicly announce the decision to proceed with a $1.3-billion hospital redevelopment, one of the largest expenditures in health care in the province’s history.

“As Burnaby continues to grow, our health care needs have changed and grown, too. Burnaby Hospital staff provide top-notch care – now we will have the facility to match the people,” Hurley said.

“Building on recent urgent and primary care investments in Burnaby, the hospital will help deliver health care in the best way possible.

“I will continue to be a champion for Burnaby Hospital Foundation to ensure the new facility meets the needs of the whole community,” Hurley said.
