Burnaby Shows Holiday Spirit with Festive Lights

Snap photos of your favorite Burnaby Lights & add #burnabylights

In the spirit of the season, nearly every corner of Burnaby will be decorated with bright and merry lights to help shine the way this holiday. To help celebrate the season, the City encourages residents and visitors alike to add the #burnabylights hashtag to their favorite Burnaby holiday light displays.

From Edmonds and Deer Lake to The Heights, nearly two dozen parks and public spaces were brightened up over the 2018 holidays. Building on this program, four new areas of the City will be festooned with lights this holiday season:

  • Willingdon Linear Park, in which some two dozen trees along the park are ornamented with lights
  • Edmonds Community Centre trellis and north wall
  • Hastings Street, where every other tree from Boundary to Gamma are wrapped with a canopy of white lights
  • Burnaby RCMP Building on Deer Lake Avenue

“The holidays are considered a joyous time of family and celebration, and we’re so pleased Burnaby can be part of this celebration with our vibrant holiday light displays,” says Mayor Mike Hurley. “Of course, this time of year is also known for its shorter days and early nightfall – so it’s especially nice to have this opportunity to brighten up the sky in such a festive way.”

Everyone is invited to snap their own photos of Burnaby’s holiday lights – whether it’s in a City space or your own front yard – and add the #burnabylights hashtag to help showcase the best of Burnaby this season.
