Lights, Camera, Action! Movie nights are back at Civic Square!

Pack your blankets and snacks as Burnaby’s popular movie series returns to Civic Square outside the Bob Prittie Library at Metrotown every Thursday in August.

Showtime is 8:30 p.m., rain or shine. The 2019 lineup includes:

  • August 8 – Mary Poppins Returns: Set in 1930s London, 25 years after the events of the original film, the film sees Mary Poppins, the former nanny of Jane and Michael Banks, returning one year after a family tragedy.
  • August 15 – Hotel Transylvania 3: In the film, Dracula finds love with a ship captain named Ericka Van Helsing while on a vacation on a cruise with his family and friends, but Mavis discovers that Ericka is actually the great-granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing, Dracula's arch-enemy.
  • August 22 – Madagascar 3: In this film Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria are still struggling to get home to New York. This time, their journey takes them to Europe, where they are relentlessly pursued by the murderous animal Control officer Captain Chantel DuBois.
  • August 29 – The Wizard of Oz: Widely considered to be one of the greatest films in cinema history, it is the best-known and most commercially successful adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Civic Square is located at 6100 Willingdon Ave., just outside the Bob Prittie Library.
