More Room to Shop and Stroll on Edmonds Street

Burnaby pedestrians have more room to safely roam and shop, with the closure of the curb lane on the west side of Edmonds Street (view map) as part of the City of Burnaby’s Active Sidewalks, Open Businesses program.

Until further notice, street parking on the west side of Edmonds between the Edmonds Community Centre and Kingsway has been re-purposed for pedestrians. This closure gives pedestrians the space to physically distance, and gives businesses the opportunity to temporarily expand into the outdoor space in a way that suits their needs. This may include temporary patio areas, outdoor displays or checkout areas. Businesses can take advantage of the extra space by submitting an application through the Active Sidewalks, Open Businesses program. The City has created an expedited system to process applications as quickly as possible.
