Burnaby's Climate Actions
Here are the Quick Start Actions already underway in Burnaby to meet the City's Climate Emergency carbon reduction targets of:
- 45% reductions by 2030
- 75% reductions by 2040
- Carbon neutrality by 2050
Public EV Charging Stations
We’re making it easier for people to make the switch to an electric vehicle by installing public EV charging stations at a growing number of locations around the city.

EV Charging in All New Residential Construction
It's now easier for residents to transition to electric vehicles by ensuring charging infrastructure is available at home as well as in the community. All new homes, whether single- or multi-family must come ready for Level 2 EV charging.

|
Green Buildings in Burnaby
Burnaby has adopted the provincial framework for the environmental performance of new buildings, including improving energy efficiency and using low-carbon energy systems.

|
City Energy Strategy
Recognizing the need to lead from within, the City has developed a City Energy Strategy, which will see the City of Burnaby achieve carbon neutrality within corporate operations by 2040, 10 years ahead of the community-wide target.

|
Accelerated Sidewalk Construction
To make it easier for residents to choose active transportation like walking and cycling, we have an accelerated program to build out the city’s sidewalk and urban trail network.

|
Transit Priority Projects
We’re making bus service faster, more efficient and more reliable by redesigning our roads to prioritize public transit. New road features, such as bus queue jumper lanes and advanced turn signals, will allow buses to bypass traffic, allowing riders to reach their destinations quicker.

Tree 4 Free
Property owners in Burnaby will have the opportunity to beautify their neighbourhoods for free while enhancing our urban canopy through the Burnaby’s Tree4Free Program.
