Local By-election

On June 26, 2021, join your community in electing two (2) Councillors in the 2021 Burnaby Local Government by-election. Elected Councillors will serve on City Council until the next scheduled local election on October 15, 2022.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, elections and by-elections have safely taken place in British Columbia. The City of Burnaby is committed to following COVID-19 safety protocols to provide a safe environment for voters, candidates and election staff. 

The City’s By-Election COVID-19 Safety Plan outlines risk assessments and controls for the City’s Election Office and voting places. The Plan was developed in consultation with an occupational health and safety consultant, and is informed by directives and guidelines provided by Elections BC, health authorities, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, WorkSafeBC, and the City’s COVID-19 General Safety Plan.
