Laurie Jones-Tomé, Fine Arts Coordinator 

 Bonsor Arts - Instructor Laurie Jones-Tomé

Laurie received her Recreation Diploma from Langara in 1981 and started her Career in Recreation in West Vancouver. Soon after she moved to the City of Burnaby and has been working here ever since. She has worn many hats over the years, working with seniors as a Recreation Programmer at Confederation Centre, at City Hall as a Community Program Coordinator, and at Shadbolt as a Program Coordinator. She has been the Fine Arts Coordinator at Bonsor since being asked to join the team in 1987 when Bonsor first opened, and has built the arts programming there from a seasonal complement of 30 classes to the current compliment of up to 300 classes per season. Laurie’s approach to the arts is best described as being incredibly creative, inspirational to instructors, and always thinking outside the box to make everything possible!

River Light, Fine Arts Leader

 Bonsor Arts - Instructor River Light

River comes to us with a background in theatre. She has been involved in acting since she was a young child, and received her BA at SFU in Fine and Performing Arts – Theatre Concentration. River has performed in many community productions both on the Sunshine Coast and in Vancouver. Her 2 minute video Please won the UN pavilion’s Messages for Peace competition at Expo 86 in the senior audio/video category. She has written and produced for both stage and video, and currently writes short stories and poetic prose. She started working for the City of Burnaby in the spring of 1992 and now works full time at Bonsor as a Fine Arts Leader.

Parking: Park at Bonsor only during the time you are actually visiting the complex. If you plan to go to the mall or surrounding businesses before or after your visit with us, please take your vehicle with you. The city parking bylaw restricts use of our parking lot to Bonsor Complex customers only. Vehicles in violation of the bylaw may be ticketed or towed. Car pool or use alternative forms of transportation on special event days when parking spaces are in particularly high demand.

Accessible Parking Reminder: Please have your decal visible when using the accessible parking spaces. To obtain a decal, contact SPARC of BC at 604-718-7744.

No Stopping Zone: The fire zone adjacent to the fields is designated and signed No Stopping Zone. Vehicles in this zone will be ticketed and/ or towed.
