The following outlines the usual location process:

  • A location scout “breaks the script down” into the number and type of locations needed for some or all of the scenes in the script.
  • The scout then searches the photo library for properties and locations that best match the character of the script.
  •  If these cannot be found in the library, the scout then searches for and photographs suitable locations.

What Happens When a Producer is Interested in My Property?

Your entire home or part of your home such as a room or the exterior may be considered for a film project. A location scout or location manager will contact you if your property is being considered for film or television projects to be shot in the province. Before you release pertinent information about your property, ask for details about the production. If you have any doubts, please call the or Burnaby Film Office and we can confirm the validity of the project.
