Outdoor Recreation

Reservations Required

Advance registration is required for each program. Burnaby residents have priority registration and can register in advance of non-residents for programs and activities which are in Webreg. No drop-ins. 

Check back regularly as new programs are added. 

For everyone's safety:

  • Outdoor programs will have reduced capacity to allow for physical distancing
  • Come dressed and prepared to be outdoors
  • Physical distancing will be enforced. Please maintain 2 metres or more between yourself and others at all times
  • Respect and follow directions of staff at all times
  • Expect enhanced cleaning and sanitization protocols
  • First aid and rescue procedures have been modified to ensure the safety of participants and staff
  • If you appear to be sick, you will not be allowed to participate. Please stay home if you are sick

Our outdoor recreation programs are offered all year round! Breathe in the fresh air while you explore the beautiful outdoors through a variety of programs, including kayaking, canoeing, hiking and snowshoeing. Learn new skills, meet people and be active!

Summer 2020 Programs

Check out all outdoor programs scheduled for Summer. Register online, or call 604-294-7222 Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm to register by phone. No drop-ins. Children participating in programs must be 8 years and up, and be accompanied by an adult.

Soccer: Basics for Women

These outdoor soccer sessions offer a fun and friendly atmosphere where you can learn the rules and new skills or brush up on old ones. What a great way to get some exercise and have fun at the same time!

Time: 7 to 9pm
Cost: Adult $72.60 Senior: $58.08

Family Kayaking 

View the shorelines of Burrard Inlet and southern Indian Arm from an ocean kayak. Look for seals, sea lions and bald eagles along the way. No experience necessary. All equipment included. Each child (ages 10-16yrs) must be accompanied by one adult.

Location: Barnet Marine Beach 
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm
Cost: Adult $42.80  Youth: $32.10  Senior: $34.24 (1 session)

Youth Kayaking (13-16 yrs)

Looking for a better way to spend the day? Our fun, experienced guides introduce you to kayaking and facilitate lots of group games too! No parental participation required. 

Location: Barnet Marine Park
Cost: Youth $40.15 (1 session)

Family Canoe 

Enjoy quality time with your family canoeing at Deer Lake. Look for great blue herons, bald eagles and maybe a turtle or marsh hawk during the trip. No experience necessary. Qualified guides and all equipment included. Each family member must be registered, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Kayaking Day Trip - Panorama Park, Deep Cove

Join us for a kayaking day trip to visit the striking Panorama Park located in Deep Cove. Take a guided paddle with our experienced kayak instructor and along the way keep an eye out for harbor seals, eagles all while taking in the beautiful scenery BC has to offer. All equipment included.

Kayak at Barnet 

Come join our guided kayak tour around beautiful Barnet Marine Park in the picturesque waters of the Burrard Inlet. Soak in the rays and enjoy the beach area before or after your paddle! No experience needed. All equipment included.

Time: 2-4:30pm
Cost: Adults $53.50  Youth $40.15  Senior $42.80 (1 session)

Evening Kayak 

Enjoy a spectacular West Coast view while paddling a kayak along the scenic shorelines of Burrard Inlet. No experience necessary. All equipment included.

Location: Barnet Marine Park
Time: 5:30-8pm
Cost: Adults $53.50  Youth $40.15  Senior $42.80 per session (1 session)

Important Information for Registered Participants

Thank you for registering in one of our outdoor programs. Please review the General Informational Package and be sure to print and sign the appropriate waiver for all participants. 

  • If you do not have access to a printer, your instructor will have extra waivers on hand for you to sign at the beginning of the program.
