Portals of Time: Best of Famous Empty Sky

Famous Empty Sky

March 31-June 8, 2014
Bob Prittie Library

Until Famous Empty Sky started her Portals of Time series on New Year’s Day of this year the gallery was planning a retrospective of her collage work drawn from the artist’s archive hence the title--The Best of Empty Sky. When Empty Sky started posting a daily collage on Facebook it was initially to be a one month project that was extended when we expressed an interest in showing the collages here at Bob Prittie Library. The work shown here was selected from the 64 artworks had completed by encompassing the medium of collage, photomontage, digital collage and 3-D collage.

A Vancouver resident, Famous Empty Sky is well known for both her own mixed media artwork and as being an excellent facilitator in workshops that have resulted in several collaborative artworks. Famous Empty Sky is very involved with Avenue for/des Arts an East Vancouver based community arts group. A 1997 print portfolio by Avenue for/des Arts- Alleys, Lanes and Pathways of Grandview Woodland was made part of the City of Burnaby Permanent Art Collection following a showing of the group’s Party of the Century at McGill Branch Library last summer.
