About the Exhibition

The Burnaby Art Gallery is pleased to present Sewing Lessons: Hybrid Prints by Laurie Mackie. Laurie defines her hybrid prints as artworks that fuse both old and new technologies. In her work the traditional printing press and processes work alongside both laser cut and CNC machined matrixes.

Laurie feels that her “materials and images contrast both natural and built environments”. She sees her prints “as a call to consider the material world: who makes it and how it functions in modern life”.

An expanded version of this exhibition will be displayed at Victoria’s Exchanges Gallery from May 3-19, 2019.
