Hot Weather in Store for Southwestern BC

While hot and sunny conditions are welcomed news for most, Environment and Climate Change Canada and Medical Health Officers are reminding residents to take precautions to protect themselves from the heat. Keep cool by:

  • Spending time in an air-conditioned facility (such as a shopping centre, library, community centre or restaurant) for at least several hours every day.
  • Dress for the weather by wearing loose, light-weight clothing. Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
  • Avoid sunburn, stay in the shade or use sunscreen with SPF 30 or more
  • NEVER leave children or pets alone in a parked car.
  • Check in on others - People living alone are at high risk of severe heat related illness.

The Burnaby Art Gallery offers the following exhibition for touring:

Anna Wong: Traveller on Two Roads

Organized and circulated by the Burnaby Art Gallery, and co-curated by Ellen van Eijnsbergen and Jennifer Cane, this travelling exhibition consists of artwork by Vancouver artist Anna Wong (1930-2013), and is accompanied by a full-colour, hardcover 100-page publication in two bilingual editions. With essays from notable scholars Keith Wallace and Zoë Chan, this catalogue includes over seventy of Wong’s artworks from a lifetime of travel and cultural influence: from Vancouver BC’s Chinatown to New York City, and from Quadra Island to Beijing.

Exhibition Venue Requirements:
Approximately 200 linear feet / 61 linear meters (configuration is dependent on venue), 70 framed artworks, textile works, and personal ephemera/photographs

Technical/Conservation Requirements:
• Self-contained exhibition; numbers, sizes and weights of crates to be confirmed
• Conservation conditions: 18°C and 20°C ± 2°C, relative humidity 50%, daily maximum fluctuation ± 5°C
