Celebrating Diversity Quilt Project

Celebrating Diversity Quilt Project

Community Arts facilitated a quilt project at Lochdale Community School involving students, teachers, community members and families of the Strong Starts Program. 380 quilt pieces were joined together to create a design depicting the “Celebration of Diversity” and self-expression.

Step by step lessons were given to provide confidence in learning how to look at shapes and textures while exploring techniques on drawing realistic portraits. Painting techniques such as skin tone and colour theory were also taught while students thought about self-expression and uniqueness. The seven by nine foot quilt can be found hanging in the Lochdale School gym for all to enjoy.
