Media Arts Instructors

Jay Johnson

Jay learned how to make moving contraptions by taking things apart as a kid. He went on to graduate from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1993. His kinetic sculpture and video work have been exhibited in Canada, the United States and Europe. His teaching experience includes sessional classes for children at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and within the Vancouver public school system. He is also a performing musician (drummer) and teaches recording arts classes in the Shadbolt Media Lab. 

Kristen Roos

Kristen Roos is a practicing interdisciplinary artist with experience teaching a wide variety of mediums in the visual and media arts. Currently, his primary medium is sound art, and his writing on sound and radio art appears in the publications Radio Territories, and Islands of Resistance: Pirate Radio in Canada. He has received awards for his work, including the Vancouver Mayors Arts Awards for live/work space, and a People’s Choice Award for his Ghost Station Installation at Nuit Blanche, Toronto. He holds a BFA from Concordia University, and an MFA from the University of Victoria.

Ted Wilson

Ted completed a Diploma in Traditional Animation at the Vancouver Film School and also a Diploma in Computer Animation at the Applied Multimedia Training Centre.  He has worked in character design, game design and in animation for various media companies such as Bardel Entertainment, Atomic Cartoons and DHX Media.
