Getting to the Shadbolt

- From Highway #1 Westbound:
Take exit #33. Proceed to stop sign and turn left onto Kensington South. Proceed to lights and turn left onto Canada Way. Get in right lane immediately and turn right onto Deer Lake Avenue. (Burnaby Village Museum is onright corner). Keep to the right and wind around Deer Lake Avenue until you see “Shadbolt Centre for the Arts”. - From Highway #1 Eastbound
Take exit #33, bear right onto Kensington and proceed to the lights at Canada Way. Turn left onto Canada Way and immediately get inright lane to turn right at next lights onto Deer Lake Ave. The Burnaby Village Museum is on the right. Keep right and wind around Deer Lake Ave. until you see a sign on the left that says “Shadbolt Centre for the Arts” . From Canada Way Eastbound
Turn right at Deerlake Parkway. Proceed south tosecond set of lights at Deer Lake Ave. and turn left. Proceed up the hill past Burnaby Art Gallery on the right. Watch for the green “Shadbolt Centre for the Arts” sign on theright . From Canada Way Westbound
Turn left onto Deer Lake Ave. (Gas station and Burnaby Village Museum are on the corners; note that on the north side of Canada Way this is Sperling Ave.) Stay to the right and wind around Deer Lake Ave. until you see the tall green “Shadbolt Centre for the Arts” sign on the left.

Parking
- Free parking at the Centre includes 70 underground stalls and 130 surface stalls at the north end of the building. Note that some stalls are designated for those with parking permits.
- Street parking available on Deer Lake Avenue
- After business hours, additional free parking areas available at the Burnaby Village Museum, Burnaby Art Gallery, Burnaby City Hall (Located on east side of Deer Lake Parkway between Canada Way and Deer Lake Ave) and City Hall West Building (enter from east side of Deer Lake Parkway between Canada Way and Deer Lake Avenue). Parking in these areas only permitted on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays.
Note: Extremely limited parking in the immediate vicinity during festival and other large scale Deer Lake Park events. Please plan accordingly or consider using alternate methods of transportation.
Accessibility Information
Parking:
- 4 designated parking stalls available (3 located in the north parking lot which is accessed from Deer Lake Avenue, and one located in the south underground lot)
Entry/Interior Access:
- Access to all areas provided by elevator or level entry
- Automatic doors located at the east and west entrances
- 12 accessible seats available in the front row of James Cowan Theatre
- Assistive listening devices for persons with hearing-related disabilities are available at both the James Cowan Theatre and the Studio Theatre
- Festivals and events taking place outside on the grounds surrounding Shadbolt are wheelchair accessible
- Upstairs studios in Mather House are not wheelchair accessible

- Wheelchair accessible washrooms on all floors of Shadbolt Centre, and on the first floor of Mather House
