The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts endeavours to serve the citizens of Burnaby by offering multiple opportunities for participation, observation and involvement in special events, programs and theatre performances.
Volunteerism is a critical part of engagement here at the City of Burnaby and we welcome the community to explore exciting opportunities with us at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts!

- Arts Program Assistant

Fine Arts and Music: Classroom assistants are wanted at various times throughout the year to assist on a weekly basis. Applicants must have previous experience working with children and a genuine interest in fine arts and music. Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age and would need to consent to a criminal record check prior to being placed.
Arts Day Camps: There are opportunities for youth and other interested individuals to explore opportunities with our younger art camp participants! Applicants would have to be available for full weeks during Spring Break, Winter Break or in the summer for at least one full week (Monday-Friday up to 6 hours per day). Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age and would need to consent to a criminal record check prior to being placed.
- Special Events Volunteer

Special Events Volunteer responsibilities include assisting and supporting various tasks at festivals and events throughout the year. Greet guests, hand out pamphlets and programs, and assist with art and cultural activities during a festival. Applicants interested in this potion should have an outgoing and enthusiastic personality and enjoy working with a variety of people in busy environments.
- Theatre Usher

Theatre Ushers provide assistance to the Front of House Supervisor by directing and assisting patrons, scanning tickets, distributing programs, enforcing house rules (i.e. no food or drinks in the house) and carrying out miscellaneous duties. The goal of this position is to enrich audience experience and increase the safety of theatre patrons.
