Public Safety Award
Burnaby City Council approved the establishment of the Burnaby Public Safety Award (formerly Community Policing Award) in 2007 to recognize individuals with a connection to Burnaby who have carried out an act of bravery or courage related to crime prevention or community policing. Nominations are invited at any time of the year from any person who has witnessed or attended the scene of a relevant act of bravery or courage. View past award recipients »
Nomination Criteria
Nominations are accepted at anytime during the year. Nominations from any person who has witnessed or attended the scene should meet the following four criteria:
- A verifiable meritorious service or act of bravery has taken place
- The service or act is related to fire prevention, crime prevention, community policing or public safety
- The service or act took place in Burnaby or was carried out by a Burnaby citizen or citizens (if outside of Burnaby) and
- The service or act of bravery has taken place within two (2) years of the application being submitted
