2016 Public Safety Award Recipients

2016 Public Safety Committee Award Recipients

Burnaby City Council, based on recommendation of the Public Safety Committee, recognized Mr. John (Jack) Wilson, Mr. Tyson Rasmussen and Ms. Rebecca Littke as Public Safety Award recipients in 2016.

In early 2015, during a two car collision in the area of Canada Way and Beta Avenue, a pedestrian was struck while walking on the sidewalk, sustaining significant injuries from one of the cars as it slid across the roadway onto the sidewalk.  Mr. Wilson, Mr. Rasmussen and Ms. Littke rushed to the pedestrian's aid and attempted lifesaving first aid.  The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital, however, despite momentous efforts of all involved the victim sadly succumbed to injuries.

Mr. Wilson, Mr. Rasmussen and Ms. Littke did not hesitate to put their medical training into practice and are to be commended for their quick thinking, humanitarian efforts and selflessness in attempting lifesaving CPR.
