Rainfall Warning for Metro Vancouver

Be Prepared for Pooling Water and Localized Flooding

Posted November 21, 2017

rainfall warning is in effect with prolonged periods of rain expected until Thursday. City crews are working to mitigate roadway flooding conditions by clearing leaves and debris from drains, placing road flooding signs and pre-positioning barricades for possible road closures.

Leaves left or put onto city streets can potentially result in localized flooding due to clogged catch basins. Help us by removing leaves and debris from catch basins on your street so the water can easily drain during heavy rainfall. Learn more »

The City of Burnaby supports cultural, athletic and volunteer groups who provide services or promote activities which are beneficial to Burnaby. The City also supports non-profit organizations that organize community events and festivals. Applications for grants are either processed through the Festivals Burnaby Grant Program or the Financial Management Committee.

Festivals Burnaby Grant Program

Organizations applying for grants to support events and festivals should apply through the Festivals Burnaby Grant Program. This program supports neighbourhood events, as well as small scale and large scale festivals and special events. Application forms are submitted to the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and are then reviewed by the Financial Management Committee after which they are reviewed by Council.

Financial Management Committee

Organizations that are applying for grants that fall outside of the Festivals Burnaby Grant Program (for example, Burnaby residents attending national and international athletic competitions or community groups providing human services to our community) should apply to the Financial Management Committee.
