Bonsor Arts - Instructor Chantel Genio Dance

Chantel Genio 

A long time instructor for the City of Burnaby, Chantel recently celebrated her 11th year at Bonsor Complex. Ages pre-school to 55+, Chantel has taught it all – from Ballet to Street Jazz, from Cupcakes to Stomp! Receiving her dance training at local, national, and international levels, Chantel has had the opportunity to perform in Canada, USA, and Germany. She has performed alongside some of the most highly sought-after dancers and choreographers, most recently as a cast member of Tap Stew. Chantel currently teaches long-term Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, and Musical Theatre, as well as Zumba® Fitness for children and adults.

Danielle has always had a strong passion for the arts, but dancing is what she was meant to do. Recently becoming a teacher has broadened her mind on a new level of creativity. Having trained in all styles she could get her hands on, being: Hip-Hop, Tap, Jazz, Stage, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern and Acrobatics, she hopes to still develop and grow with learning new styles of dance in the future. “Being the Acrobatics teacher at Bonsor has so far been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I can’t wait for all the great years ahead.”

Jhaymee Hizon 

                 

Jhaymee teaches Break Dance here at Bonsor, and is known and respected throughout the Lower Mainland as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and as the artistic director of the Now or Never Crew Dance Company. Jhaymee and his dance group are the Westcoast Canadian Breaking Champions. Jhaymee has been teaching dance for over ten years and has been featured in films, music videos, television programs, and fashion shows. In 2007 he played the role of Cole’s crew in the feature film “Kickin Old Skool” and he and his dance group performed in the closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Ying Ying Wang 

Ying Ying received her training in Chinese Traditional Dance and dance choreography in China, and then majored in Contemporary Dance at Simon Fraser University.  She was the choreographer for World Vision Canada-Chasing Love Musical Drama with Hong Kong artists, and for Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant. She performed at the Winter Olympic Game in Vancouver. She has been the choreographer and back dancer for Kpop star-G.na, as well as for many other artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Ying Ying works full time as a dance instructor and choreographer, and continues to perform.

Jennifer Aoki
Jennifer Aoki

Jennifer has loved dance since the age of three and has grown up into a passionate, energetic, and extremely knowledgeable dancer, choreographer, and teacher.

Jennifer trained professionally at Simon Fraser University where she obtained  a BFA in dance in 2010. Her pre-professional ballet training includes the Royal Academy of Dance Intermediate Vocational Graded Examination. Jennifer has co-founded her own dance company Triadic Dance Works, and continues to dance professionally in Canada and Europe. 

Jennifer teaches a variety of dance programs at Urban Dance Co, various elementary schools, and at Bonsor Community Center, Edmonds Community Center, and Shadbolt Center for the Arts. She loves sharing her joy and passion in dance with her students and is inspired by their creativity and imagination.
