Long-term Dance Instructors

Jade

Jade

Jade's belly dancing journey began in Venezuela at the age of 12 where it was love at first sight, and continued into Mexico and then Canada. Her training is extensive and varied. She has trained with instructors form Latin America, North America and the Middle East. Her multicultural background motivates her to explore and choreograph dance fusions. She is most interested in the fusions of belly dance with flamenco, modern, samba and Persian dance.

Jade is a professional belly dancer who performs at cultural events and shares her deep passion for dance through teaching. Most recently, Jade instructed and performed with the City of Yellowknife and the Yellowknife Racquet Club. She is excited to be back in her home town of Vancouver to continue to spread her love for belly dance – and is thrilled to be teaching her at Bonsor.

Sonja Beale

Sonja Beale

Sonja is a dancer/actor/singer from Fort St John BC. She moved to Vancouver in 2016 to study acting at the Vancouver Film School and has spent the last few years pursuing a career as an actor. She has 20 years of training in tap, ballet, jazz and contemporary and has attended schools such as The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Alberta Ballet and Goh Ballet. Sonja has performed in several musical theatre productions with Broadway Live Broadway in Grande Prairie AB, including The Little Mermaid, Tarzan and Fame. Sonja believes her training in acting can help bring another level to the artistry of dance. She loves to teach, and she started her teaching career at the Move Dance Center where she taught jazz, tap and contemporary. Dance is one of her biggest passions and she loves to share that with her students here at Bonsor.

Carman Chun

Carman was born and raised in Vancouver and began dancing at the age of 8. She trained in classical ballet following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. During her training she has had the opportunity to perform various integral roles such as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella’s stepsister, and the Rose from Beauty and the Beast. She also auditioned and competed with the University of British Columbia Ballet Club’s competitive team for 3 consecutive years, and has won many regional competitions with her teammates. For the last two years she has been teaching ballet classes and creating choreographing for performances on top of her competing and training obligations. Carmen is excited to be joining Bonsor’s team of dance instructors and is looking forward to meeting all her new students!

Danielle Gramm 

Danielle has always had a strong passion for the arts, but dancing is what she was meant to do. Recently becoming a teacher has broadened her mind on a new level of creativity. Having trained in all styles she could get her hands on, being: Hip-Hop, Tap, Jazz, Stage, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern and Acrobatics, she hopes to still develop and grow with learning new styles of dance in the future. “Being the Acrobatics teacher at Bonsor has so far been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I can’t wait for all the great years ahead.”

Jhaymee Hizon 

Jhaymee teaches Break Dance here at Bonsor, and is known and respected throughout the Lower Mainland as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and as the artistic director of the Now or Never Crew Dance Company. Jhaymee and his dance group are the Westcoast Canadian Breaking Champions. Jhaymee has been teaching dance for over ten years and has been featured in films, music videos, television programs, and fashion shows. In 2007 he played the role of Cole’s crew in the feature film “Kickin Old Skool” and he and his dance group performed in the closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Jenny Nguyen

Jenny Nguyen

Jenny is originally from Prince Rupert B.C. She started her dance journey at the age of 8 and soon enough her repertoire expanded to acting and musical theatre. She graduated from the Canadian College of Performing Arts in 2016 and since then been working as an artist. She has toured across B.C and Alberta with The Story Theatre Company and travelled overseas to Guangzhou to teach Performing Arts. Her recent work includes Miss Electricity as Violet/Miss Electricity (Beach House Theatre) and Mary Poppins as the Doll/ensemble (CCPA). Jenny is excited to continue sharing her passion and love of dance!

Stephanie Pedraza

Stephanie Pedraza 

Stephanie is a unique combination of singer, songwriter, flamenco dancer and cantaora (traditional flamenco singing) based in Vancouver BC. Born in to a Latin American family and having moved to Colombia at a very early age, she has been constantly immersed in her Colombian-Uruguayian roots of song and dance.

It was at the age of 19 that she fell in love with flamenco, and ever since, has dedicated her life to mastering the art. She has trained intensively in both Canada and Spain.

Her original musical compositions are an honest reflection of her rich Latin American background. She released her first album titled "Where I Rest" in November 2011 and since then, has been featured on CBC Radio and Roundhouse Radio. She is currently writing her second album.

Over the past decade Stephanie has performed and toured extensively and taught workshops across Canada and internationally. Her collaborations, workshops and performances are far too numerous to mentions – but suffice to say we are extremely lucky to have her teaching here at Bonsor!

Silene Razo

Silene Razo

Silene is a versatile dancer, actor, and dance instructor who has worked in theatre, radio and television. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Dance at Contempodanza School in Mexico City. Silene is an award-winning professional performer who has danced internationally, highlights being the Czech Republic, Japan, U.S, Mexico and Canada. In 2015 and 2016, Razo completed two concert tours throughout Japan as a Latin dancer with a mambo orchestra. She is currently dancing with The Body Orchestra Collective and working as an independent artist on different projects in the Lower Mainland. Silene has taught dance to all ages in various dance education facilities and she is passionate about creating choreography. Her classes are highly energetic with special focus on technique.

Sophia Rusnak

Sophia Rusnak 

Sophia Rusnak has been dancing since 2003 and in 2010 added acrobatics to her repertoire. She trained at Encore Dance Academy, where she completed her jazz, tap, and ballet exams. As wel,l she trained at circus school in Langley for three summers. Sophia has competed in many dance and acrobatics competitions around BC. In 2014 she started working as an assistant in dance and acro dance classes and is now happy to be teaching at Bonsor while at the same time she pursues a careen in Phycology at UBC. Sophia is excited to be able to share her love of dance and acrobatics with her students!

Danielle Sagris

Danielle Sagris

Danielle started her formal dance training at the age of 3 and has not stopped dancing since. While she has trained in a wider range of dance disciplines but modern, tap, ballet, and jazz are her primary focus. Danielle has performed competitively both nationally and internationally, and she has completed her Intermediate RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) examinations and her Senior Gold CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) examinations. In 2014 she started teaching dance and in 2018 she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at SFU - where she made the Dean’s Honour Roll 3 years running. Danielle is excited to be teaching at Bonsor this year and is eager to share her passion and love of dance with her students!

Bonsor Arts - Instructor Ying Ying Wang

Ying Yang Wang 

Ying Ying received her training in Chinese Traditional Dance and dance choreography in China, and then majored in Contemporary Dance at Simon Fraser University.  She was the choreographer for World Vision Canada-Chasing Love Musical Drama with Hong Kong artists, and for Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant. She performed at the Winter Olympic Game in Vancouver. She has been the choreographer and back dancer for Kpop star-G.na, as well as for many other artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Ying Ying works full time as a dance instructor and choreographer, and continues to perform.
