Hot Weather in Store for Southwestern BC

While hot and sunny conditions are welcomed news for most, Environment and Climate Change Canada and Medical Health Officers are reminding residents to take precautions to protect themselves from the heat. Keep cool by:

  • Spending time in an air-conditioned facility (such as a shopping centre, library, community centre or restaurant) for at least several hours every day.
  • Dress for the weather by wearing loose, light-weight clothing. Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
  • Avoid sunburn, stay in the shade or use sunscreen with SPF 30 or more
  • NEVER leave children or pets alone in a parked car.
  • Check in on others - People living alone are at high risk of severe heat related illness.

Jamie started her career with Parks & Recreation as a preschool instructor, working with children at various locations within Burnaby while completing her Early Childhood Education. Jamie started at Edmonds for its grand opening and worked in many capacities within the centre, although before that she had been involved in numerous other positions with the City. With a strong foundation in child studies, Jamie is devoted to nurture all of the disciplines and encourage their growth at Edmonds, and looks forward to continuing to build the fantastic complement of programs at the centre!

Recreation Leader - Fine Arts


Stephanie began with the City of Burnaby as a Skating Instructor and Recreation Attendant. During this time she also attended Simon Fraser University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is currently studying Recreation Management at Langara College. She has been working with Fine Arts at Edmonds since March 2016 and also works as a Recreation Leader. Stephanie is excited to continue working with the Fine Arts team to build Edmonds portfolio and offer many wonderful programs in our community!
