Be Park Smart!

Before visiting, please be aware of current provincial health orders and enjoy our parks, trails and public spaces, responsibly:

  • Bring what you need with you such as hand sanitizer and a face mask. Please note masks are required to be worn in park washrooms.
  • Masks are not required outdoors but we encourage wearing one when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including when walking on busy trails.
  • All groups must stay together and keep their physical distance from other visitors. 
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick.

Central Park

Trees, Trees, Trees!

This 86.4-hectare urban park is notable for its immense douglas fir, western hemlock, cedar, poplar and maple groves. Central Park is known for its excellent sports and recreation facilities. Tennis courts outdoor swimming pool, horseshoe pitch and a pitch-and-putt golf course are popular draws. Anchoring the park is Swangard Stadium, host facility for many sporting, cultural, corporate and fundraising events.

What you need to know 

Please be respectful and courteous of other park users and use our parks, trails and public spaces responsibly: 

  • Park in designated areas, not residential areas or areas where parking is not permitted.
  • Cycling is only allowed on the perimeter trail.
  • Take up only the space you need in the park. You may arrive early and have lots of space to set up, but please be courteous and leave room for others. 
  • Picnic tables are first-come, first served. Please note that when gathering outdoors you still need to maintain a physical distance of 2 meters apart from one another when standing or sitting, unless you are from the same household. Group picnic areas are currently not available to book.
  • Propane barbeques are allowed. Charcoal and open-flame barbeques are also allowed as this park. Use on-site ash pits for the safe disposal of hot ashes.
  • No littering. If garbage cans are full, please take your garbage with you.
  • Keep your dog leashed. Please immediately pick up and properly dispose of your dog’s waste.

wheelchair Accessibility Information 

Parking:

  • 21 total designated parking stalls available throughout the various surface parking areas and 2 electric vehicle charging stations
  • Additional designated stalls are made available during special events

Entry/Interior Access:

  • trails have either finely crushed gravel or hard packed earth surfaces
  • the paved BC Parkway trail offers another trail alternative
  • Accessible picnic tables throughout the picnic areas in the park
  • Central Park Outdoor Pool has an accessible washroom/change room and shower
  • the pool has a lift and aquatic wheelchair

Washrooms:

  • All washroom buildings have accessible washroom stalls
