Charles Koroneho - Choreographer / Director
A protean artist, Charles Koroneho works in the fields of performance,
culture and the visual arts.
Te Toki Haruru is a conceptual platform created by Koroneho to explore
the intersection between dance, theatre and the visual arts. Te Toki Haruru
projects are presented as research, workshops and performances exploring
the collision between Maori cosmology, New Zealand society and global
He is a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance and Elam School
of Fine Arts. He has performed extensively in New Zealand and abroad
with Te Toki Haruru, Lemi Ponifasio MAU and worked in collaboration
with Min Tanaka and Guillermo Gomez-Pena.
He shares his vision of performance by providing movement, improvisation
and performance workshops for dancers, actors, performance artists and
movement enthusiasts. He supports the dance and performance community
as a mentor and works as an associate artist with Lemi Ponifasio MAU.
The Arts Foundation of New Zealand awarded Charles Koroneho
the 2014 Arts Laureate for Dance.
