Burnaby residents can vote by mail in the 2022 local government election

Last updated: February 2, 2023

For the first time, eligible Burnaby voters can vote by mail to elect 1 mayor, 8 councillors and 7 school trustees. This opportunity is in addition to advance and general voting days, making voting even more convenient for our residents.

From 8 am on September 1 to 12 noon on October 6, you can apply for a mail ballot online at Burnaby.ca/Elections or you can contact the Election Office at 604-294-7088 to request an application to be sent to you by mail. You can also pick up a mail ballot application in person at:

  • City Hall
  • Christine Sinclair Community Centre
  • Any Burnaby Public Library
  • W.A.C. Bennett Library at SFU

Any applications received after the deadline of October 6 at 12 noon will not be accepted. The Burnaby Election Office must receive the completed mail ballot by 8 pm on October 15, 2022.

Mail ballot boxes design contest
In partnership with School District #41, the City of Burnaby is engaging local students to participate in an art competition to design a wrap for mail ballot boxes for the 2022 local government election. The theme is “It’s 2022 – Why Vote?” This competition is an opportunity for students to have their artwork featured on mail ballot boxes across the City while they learn about the importance of the electoral process.

Your City—Your Choice.
