City launches property tax estimator

Last updated: March 17, 2022

The City of Burnaby has launched a new, easy-to-use property tax estimator for residents and businesses that shows the potential impact your property's accessed value will have on your property taxes for the year.

"The City is always thinking of ways to improve the lives of our citizens. The property tax estimator tool is another example of that," said Mayor Mike Hurley. "This new and innovative approach takes the guesswork out of calculating property taxes and will allow residents and businesses to plan and budget."

You can find the new, interactive calculator on our website and select between 'Residential' or 'Business' options for a breakdown of your 2022 property tax estimates. The estimate is based on the City's reported tax rate increase for the year, with an estimated 3% increase for other taxing authorities, such as the province of BC.

Property taxes are one of the ways we collect revenue to pay for City services. The amount you pay is based on your property assessment, taxes set by City Council and the taxes we collect for services provided by other taxing authorities.
