Lakefield Drive active transportation improvements to include new public spaces and amenities

Last updated: May 24, 2022

The City of Burnaby is building new pedestrian and cycling facilities along Lakefield Drive and 4th Street and is asking for input on some planned new public spaces and amenities. The project includes a cycling- and pedestrian-only segment between Reigate Road and Elwell Street that will feature opportunities for public space improvements and amenities.

The City invites local residents and those who walk, cycle, commute through or frequent the area for recreation purposes to learn more about the Lakefield Drive Active Transportation Improvements Project and share their feedback. Members of the project team will be available to provide information about the planned improvements and receive feedback during pop-events and walking tours on two dates in June:

Sunday, June 5, 2022—Robert Burnaby Park Baseball Field (east side of parking lot on 4th Street)

  • Pop-up: 11:30 am-3:30 pm
  • Walking tour: noon

Saturday, June 11, 2022—Robert Burnaby Park Baseball Field (east side of parking lot on 4th Street)

  • Pop-up: 11:30 am-3:30 pm
  • Walking tour: noon

Anyone interested in participating in one of the 30-minute walking tours is asked to register in advance by emailing [email protected].

Comments and ideas for the public spaces and amenities can also be shared in an online survey available at Burnaby.ca/YourVoice-LakefieldDrive. The survey will be open until Monday, June 13, 2022 at midnight.
