City of Burnaby invites you to observe the National Day of Mourning on Apr 28

Last updated: April 12, 2022

The City of Burnaby invites you to join us in observing the National Day of Mourning in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 11 am on Thursday, April 28. The day honours the memory of workers who have been killed, injured, or suffered illness due to work-related incidents.

You can attend the ceremony in person or watch via live stream at 11 am.

Watch live

More than 1,000 Canadians lose their lives or are injured at the workplace each year. Countless others die from illnesses caused by work-related exposure to toxic substances. The occasion is an opportunity to renew our commitment to improving health and safety in the workplace and think of ways to prevent such tragedies in the future.

In recognition of the occasion, flags at all City facilities will fly at half-mast for the day.
