Full-scale Emergency Exercise
The City of Burnaby is initiating a multi-year emergency preparedness training and exercise program that will culminate with a large multi-agency full-scale emergency exercise. - Planned

This project will build a community garden on City-owned land in Ernie Winch Park, located near Edmonds Town Centre in southeast Burnaby. - Planned

Jim Lorimer Park Upgrades
We’re improving the park’s resilience to flooding and enhancing the accessibility and connectivity of the park and playground for residents living in the Brentwood area. - Planned

A recent rezoning application provides the opportunity for amendments to the Broadview Community Plan that will provide increased housing options and public space improvements in the area. - Planned

The City is creating the Central Park Master Plan (CPMP) as a long-term vision that will guide future improvements of the park over the next few decades. - In progress
Integrated Community Gang and Gun Violence Prevention
The Burnaby Integrated Community Gang and Gun Violence Prevention initiative is a multi-year project with the goal of reducing youth involvement with the dangerous gang lifestyle. - In progress
Mintara atop Burnaby Mountain Patio Expansion
In the fall of 2024, Mintara, located atop Burnaby Mountain, will replace its open patio with a new, enclosed one featuring a timber frame and glass roof system. - In progress
Elementary School Traffic and Safety Study
We’ve completed a traffic and safety study around all Burnaby elementary schools to make our streets safer and more accessible for all road users. - Planned
Brentwood Town Centre Plan Amendments
Recent changes to City’s Rental Use Zoning and Child Care Action Plan policies have provided an opportunity to revisit elements of the Brentwood Town Centre Development Plan and Brentwood Site Master Plan. - Planned
Burnaby Mountain Trail Management Plan
In 2019, the Environmental Conditions Assessment identified the need for a trail management plan for Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area (BMCA). The City is developing this strategy to optimally balance conservation and recreation in the BMCA. - In progress
James Cowan Theatre Redevelopment
The new Shadbolt main stage theatre and studios wing in the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts will continue to be Burnaby’s primary professional multi-use presentation space created to meet the needs of our evolving community. This 38,000 sq. ft. facility will replace the existing James Cowan Theatre
