City of Burnaby seeks community input on budget planning

Last updated: September 29, 2025

The City of Burnaby is inviting you to help shape its budget through a new public engagement process.

As part of the 2026–2030 Financial Plan process, community input will help the budget reflect local preferences and values. This year, it’s easier than ever to get involved, with a fun interactive budgeting tool and a short survey.

“Your input will help inform Council’s awareness and budget planning discussions,” said Noreen Kassam, Chief Financial Officer. “We encourage everyone to take part and help us build a budget that reflects Burnaby’s priorities and perspectives.”

How to get involved:

  • Try the interactive budget tool: Explore our budget simulation and allocate $1,000 across ten City service areas to show what’s most important to you.
  • Take the survey: Share your feedback by October 13 at Burnaby.ca/Budget.

The City's commitment to robust public engagement and transparency remains central to the financial planning process. This engagement campaign highlights the importance of balancing the City’s budget and will provide Council with valuable insights into community priorities, satisfaction levels and perspectives on budget trade-offs.
