Paving on Highway 1

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has scheduled paving work along Highway 1. The scope of work includes both the eastbound and westbound lanes just east of Willingdon Avenue Interchange to just east of Gaglardi Way Interchange. The work is scheduled to start during the last week in May, and is to be complete by September 30. All work is scheduled to take place during the hours of 11pm to 6am, when traffic volumes are reduced on the highway. Temporary detours will be required when on and off ramps are closed. 

Central Park Water Main - Maywood Section

Metro Vancouver is replacing the aging Central Park Water Main in three sections. Construction of the first phase began in fall 2019 on Maywood Street, from Patterson Avenue to Telford Avenue. This section is approximately 500 metres long, with constructed expected to finish in fall 2020. Residential driveways and parking areas may be restricted at times during construction. Central Park Water Main - Salisbury/18th Section

Metro Vancouver is replacing the aging Central Park Water Main in three sections. The second phase of the project will start at Elwell Street and head south to 10th Avenue. This section is approximately three kilometres long, running primarily along Salisbury Avenue and 18th Street. Construction will take place from fall 2020 to summer 2022. There may be times when access to residential driveways and parking areas will be restricted due to construction work. Learn more about this project »

North Road Sewer

Metro Vancouver is upgrading the North Road Sewer pipe, which carries sewage from Burnaby and Coquitlam to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. Construction will impact North Road, just north of Lougheed Highway on the Burnaby/Coquitlam border to Hume Park in New Westminster. Work may lead to temporary road closures and delays, increased truck traffic in the area and temporary property access restrictions. Douglas Road Sewer 

Metro Vancouver is building a new sewer to accommodate future growth in Burnaby. The two-kilometre long sewer will be built on Douglas Road and Halifax Street, from Boundary Road to Willingdon Avenue. Construction may lead to traffic delays and parking restrictions in the area. Please use extra caution near pedestrian areas and follow signs for detour routes. Construction is expected to end in spring 2020. Learn more about this project »

Douglas Road Water Main

Metro Vancouver is replacing the Douglas Road Water Main to continue delivering clean, safe drinking water to the region. One of the final phases of the project is now under construction in North Burnaby. This section is approximately two kilometres long and is located along McGill Street, North Rosser Avenue and Albert Street. To accommodate the work, there will be a temporary road closure along Eton Street from North Madison Avenue to North Rosser Avenue until spring 2020. Metro Vancouver will notify residents of other road closures in advance. Please follow detour route signs and directions of traffic control personnel.
