FortisBC Gas Line Upgrades

August 2018 into 2019
Construction of the FortisBC Gas Line Upgrade project is taking place in Burnaby from August 2018 into 2019. Residents, commuters and businesses in Burnaby should prepare for traffic delays due to temporary road and lane closures along the route. This work will replace the FortisBC natural gas line running from Vancouver to Coquitlam with a new 30-inch gas line.

Current Closures

  • Lougheed Highway, from Madison Avenue to Delta Avenue, reduced to one lane each direction until mid October. Bicycle lanes will be closed; the westbound cyclist detour will begin at Lougheed and Holdom Avenue, and the eastbound cyclist detour will begin at Lougheed and Gilmore Avenue.
  • Graveley Street, from Ingleton Avenue to Gilmore Avenue, local traffic only until mid September.

Construction Hours

  • Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM

Construction Route

  • Boundary Road along Graveley Street to Douglas Road and down to Lougheed Highway
  • Lougheed Highway to Bainbridge Avenue and then along Broadway to Gaglardi Way and North Road
