Current Closures & Obstructions

Central Park Water Main

Metro Vancouver is replacing the aging Central Park Water Main. The new water main will be built in three stages and will stretch along seven kilometres in Burnaby. Construction of the first phase begins fall 2019 on Maywood Street, from Patterson Avenue to Telford Avenue. Phase two will run along Salisbury Avenue and 18th Street. The final section runs along Imperial Street from Sussex Avenue to Griffiths Avenue. Construction is expected to end in 2023. Residential driveways and parking areas may be restricted at times during construction. Please follow signs for detour routes and alternate parking areas. Learn more about this project »

North Road Sewer

Metro Vancouver is upgrading the North Road Sewer pipe, which carries sewage from Burnaby and Coquitlam to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. Construction will impact North Road, just north of Lougheed Highway on the Burnaby/Coquitlam border to Hume Park in New Westminster. Work may lead to temporary road closures and delays, increased truck traffic in the area and temporary property access restrictions. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2020. Learn more about this project »

Douglas Road Sewer

Metro Vancouver is building a new sewer to accommodate future growth in Burnaby. The two-kilometre long sewer will be built on Douglas Road and Halifax Street, from Boundary Road to Willingdon Avenue. Construction may lead to traffic delays and parking restrictions in the area. Please use extra caution near pedestrian areas and follow signs for detour routes. Construction is expected to end in spring 2020. Learn more about this project »

Douglas Road Water Main

Metro Vancouver is replacing the Douglas Road Water Main to continue delivering clean, safe drinking water to the region. One of the final phases of the project is now under construction in North Burnaby. This section is approximately two kilometres long and is located along McGill Street, North Rosser Avenue and Albert Street. To accommodate the work, there will be a temporary road closure along Eton Street from North Madison Avenue to North Rosser Avenue until spring 2020. Metro Vancouver will notify residents of other road closures in advance. Please follow detour route signs and directions of traffic control personnel. Construction is expected to end in summer 2020. Learn more about this project »
