The City of Burnaby has once again received three awards from an international organization of finance officers, recognizing the City’s achievement in producing high-quality, easy-to-understand budget documents.
Every year, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recognizes excellence in government accounting with a series of awards and designations.
Burnaby has been selected as a Triple Crown winner, a designation which recognizes governments which have GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for a fiscal year. The City of Burnaby is one of just 317 governments that received this special designation for fiscal year 2020.
These prestigious awards reflect the commitment from Burnaby’s Finance Department to help residents navigate the complicated world of municipal finance.
“These awards are a result of the extremely high standards that our finance team sets for themselves,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “Earning the Triple Crown designation is a significant achievement – and our team has earned this designation for a number of years in a row.”
