City invites community members to share their voice on additional housing choices

Last updated: July 24, 2023

The City of Burnaby is seeking input from community members on additional housing choices coming to Burnaby through the Housing Choices Program.

As part of the next phase of the program, the community is invited to share their thoughts on properties without laneway access and other missing middle housing choices to help bridge the gap between single-family homes and apartments or condos.

Take the online survey at Burnaby.ca/HousingChoices on additional housing choices you’d like to see in Burnaby. The deadline to take the survey is 11:59 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Phase 1b of the Housing Choices Program is exploring options for introducing laneway homes and suites in semi-detached homes on properties without laneway access, and for introducing more missing middle housing in areas with single- and two-family lots. This includes homes with two suites, triplexes, fourplexes and cottage courts.

A previous phase of the program, focused on laneway homes and suites in semi-detached homes with laneway access on eligible properties, was approved by Council on June 19, 2023.
