More opportunities to help shape Burnaby’s future

Last updated: August 15, 2023

Burnaby residents will have additional opportunities to help develop the Burnaby 2050 Official Community Plan, as the City announced it will host two additional Burnaby 2050: Visioning Dialogue events this September.

Four sold-out Visioning Dialogue events were held in June of 2023. The September events will feature food, activities, fun and discussion about the future of Burnaby and will take place in the following locations:

Thursday, September 21, 6:30-8:30 pm (doors open at 6 pm)
The City of Lougheed Shopping Centre (9855 Austin Ave)

Saturday, September 23, 6:30-8:30 pm (doors open at 6 pm)
Wesburn Community Centre (4781 Parkwood Ave)

Registration is required for each participant. Get your free ticket by visiting Burnaby.ca/Burnaby2050. Deadline to register is Wednesday, September 13.

Municipalities in British Columbia have the authority to develop an Official Community Plan (OCP) under the Local Government Act. An OCP guides the growth and development of a community over the long term. It provides direction on land use, transportation, housing, environment, infrastructure, parks, agriculture, economic development, arts and culture, climate action and more.

In addition to the summer events, Burnaby residents had other opportunities to provide input through an online survey during the spring and early summer. Future engagement phases will include additional opportunities for residents to have a say on the OCP.
