City launches study on outdoor aquatics in Burnaby

Last updated: September 20, 2023

The City of Burnaby is seeking input from residents to help shape the future development of outdoor pools, wading pools and spray parks as part of a comprehensive study on outdoor aquatic amenities across the community.

The study will inform the development of an Outdoor Aquatic Services and Facilities Strategy, as Burnaby’s 4 outdoor pools are more than 60 years old and nearing the end of their service life.

In addition to input from residents, the City will explore trends in outdoor aquatics, review fair distribution of outdoor aquatic amenities across the city and plan for future needs.

Residents are invited to take part in a survey or attend an upcoming open house

Burnaby residents are invited to complete a brief online survey at Burnaby.ca/YourVoice-OutdoorAquatics. The survey closes on September 28, 2023.

Residents can also sign up to participate in a future focus group through the project web page or attend one of the following upcoming open houses to provide their input, no registration required:

  • Sept 12, 5:30–8 pm at Bonsor Recreation Complex – Banquet Room
  • Sept 17, 1–3:30 pm at Edmonds Community Centre – Arts Room
  • Sept 20, 5:30–8 pm at Eileen Dailly – Lobby (please note the updated location)
