FLEET mobile artist studio coming to Edmonds Park

Last updated: May 17, 2024

A new Temporary Public Art Activation in Edmonds Park from May 2024 to September 2025

The City of Burnaby is partnering with Other Sights for Artists' Projects on an initiative to expand studio space and bring art closer to the community with the launch of FLEET: Edmonds.

FLEET is a mobile artist studio hosting working artists, located in Edmonds Park at 7433 Humphries Avenue, Burnaby. The site will also be a community gathering place, where residents and visitors can also participate in cultural events and activities.

Join us for the launch of the FLEET studio on May 25 from noon to 4 pm. Stop by to enjoy a host of activities, including opening performance by the Coastal Wolf Pack at 1:00pm, a new do-it-yourself print by Eliot White-Hill using the popular ‘BAG on a Bike’ mobile printing press. A closing performance by Burnaby-based composer and musician Mohamed Assani will take place at 3:30 pm.

On May 26, the City will host an open house event at the FLEET studio, providing more opportunities for residents and local artists to learn more about how they can get involved with the space through our Open Call for Artists & Community.  There will also be information about projects by Other Sights, and what is to come with future visiting artists Eliot White-Hill, Simranpreet Anand, and our community partner Alegria Soy.

FLEET will remain in Edmonds Park until September 2025, with plenty of opportunities for residents to enjoy artist-led presentations and performances. Information about ongoing programming and studio activities is available on https://fleetstudios.org
