The City of Burnaby is pleased to announce the appointment of Chief Superintendent Gurmakh (Bill) Parmar as the new Officer in Charge of the Burnaby RCMP Detachment.
Chief Superintendent Parmar brings nearly three decades of distinguished service with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, having served in communities across British Columbia including Powell River, Kelowna and Surrey. His career has spanned frontline patrol, major crime investigations, operational leadership and strategic transition planning.
Most recently, Chief Superintendent Parmar played a key role in the Surrey Police transition, overseeing 350 frontline members and leading efforts in accommodations and asset transfer.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chief Superintendent Parmar to Burnaby,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “His deep commitment to community policing and operational excellence will be a tremendous asset to our city. I look forward to working together to ensure Burnaby remains a safe and inclusive place for everyone.”
Chief Superintendent Parmar was appointed to his new role by the RCMP and officially assumes his new role October 6.
