Last updated: November 18, 2025

The City of Burnaby is proud to congratulate Vancouver Rise FC on capturing the inaugural Northern Super League (NSL) championship, capping a remarkable first season that brought fans together and showcased women’s professional soccer in Burnaby.

“On behalf of the City of Burnaby, congratulations to Vancouver Rise FC on a history making season,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “Rise FC put on an incredibly gutsy performance in the final match, showcasing the resilience and talent that made them such a sensation in our community. We’re thrilled to be the home of Rise FC – the first ever NSL League Champions.”

Rise FC captured the Diana B. Matheson Cup after overcoming a 1-0 deficit to defeat AFC Toronto 2-1 in the first-ever Northern Super League Final on November 15.

Vancouver Rise played 11 regular season matches and one playoff game at Swangard Stadium in 2025, marking the return of professional soccer to a stadium that has been pillar for the sport in the Lower Mainland for more than 50 years.

The City also extends a special shoutout to the Crow Collective, the club’s passionate supporter group that brought the energy to Swangard at every home match. Their inclusive, welcoming spirit and nonstop support helped create an atmosphere that players and families will never forget.

Burnaby celebrates everyone who contributed to this championship run — the athletes, coaches and staff, the supporters, volunteers and partners, and the entire Rise FC organization — on an outstanding inaugural season. We look forward to many more memorable moments together in the years ahead.
