The Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre is officially world-class, according to the International Olympic Committee. Receiving two prestigious international architecture awards, the Burnaby facility is receiving international recognition for its innovative design and commitment to community excellence.
The facility earned the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS) Architecture Prize 2025 for Indoor Facilities for Sports, Leisure and Recreation, presented in Germany in late October. This award, jointly organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS), celebrates sustainable, accessible and innovative sports and leisure architecture worldwide.
In addition, the centre was also named one of Athletic Business’s 2025 Facilities of Merit, praised for supporting next generations of athletes, weekend warriors, and recreation enthusiasts with spaces for ice sports, fitness and more.
Named after social justice champion and pioneer politician Rosemary Brown, the year-round multi-sport centre continues to serve as a vibrant hub for recreation and community connection in Burnaby’s Southgate neighbourhood.
