City of Burnaby wears pink to stand up against bullying

Last updated: February 25, 2026

The City of Burnaby proudly wore pink today in support of Pink Shirt Day—standing together for kindness, inclusion and respect. Observed across Canada and around the world, Pink Shirt Day raises awareness about bullying and encourages people to stand up against hate and discrimination, while supporting programs that help build children’s confidence and self-esteem.

Pink Shirt Day began in 2007, when two Canadian teenagers took action after a classmate was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. What started as a simple gesture has grown into a global movement.

In Canada, one in five students is affected by bullying. Together, we can help change that. Share a photo of yourself wearing pink and use the hashtag #PinkShirtDay to show your support.
