Property Taxes are due Friday July 3 and 2027 Sewer Parcel Tax Changes

Last updated: June 30, 2026

City of Burnaby property tax notices are now available on My Property Portal

Pay your property taxes by July 3 and avoid the 5% penalty. There are many ways to pay. Check out payment options or how to submit your home owner grant directly to the province.

2027 Sewer Parcel Tax changes
Starting in 2027, Sewer Parcel Tax will be moved from your property tax notice to your utility notice. This change combines all water and sewer fees on one bill, making charges clearer for property owners. This is not a new charge. It's a change in when this charge is billed.

What does this mean for you? Plan ahead.

  • If you’re on the City’s pre-authorized payment plan, no action is required.
  • If you pay independently, you may need to adjust your monthly payments to reflect the increase on your utility notice. Learn about the City’s pre-authorized payment plan.
  • If you participate in the provincial property tax deferment program or your mortgage company pays your property taxes:
    • the Sewer Parcel Tax can no longer be deferred
    • your mortgage company will no longer look after the Sewer Parcel Tax

You’ll need to pay the Sewer Parcel Tax when you receive your 2027 utility notice.

Want an easy way to manage it? Sign up for pre-authorized debit and we’ll take care of the rest. You'll pay 10 equal payments plus one variable payment if you sign up before July 15.

To estimate the change to your 2027 utility bill, refer to your 2026 property tax notice, where the fee is listed under City of Burnaby Taxes – Sewer Parcel Tax
