The City of Burnaby and Burnaby Housing Authority are helping deliver 183 new purpose-built rental townhomes for families at 6203 Marine Drive in Burnaby’s South Slope neighbourhood.
“This project is an exciting milestone for Burnaby as one of the first developments led by the Burnaby Housing Authority, demonstrating the important role this new municipal corporation can play in delivering housing solutions that meet the needs of our community,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “By providing much-needed family-sized rental townhomes, this project fills an important gap in the housing market and is the first of many great projects to come.”
The project will include 58 two-bedroom and 125 three-bedroom homes, expanding the supply of family-sized rental housing in Burnaby. The homes will be close to schools, child care, Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre, parks, shopping and other everyday amenities.
Burnaby Housing Authority will own the homes on land leased long-term from the City, helping ensure this public asset continues to benefit Burnaby residents for generations. The development is one of the largest new purpose-built rental townhome projects in British Columbia.

Nearly $92 million in combined support is helping move the project forward. This includes an $84.5-million repayable, low-interest loan through the federal Apartment Construction Loan Program.

That is why the federal government is working with partners to deliver more rental housing, faster, in growing communities like Burnaby,” said the Honourable Gregor Robertson, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada. “Today’s investment reflects our commitment to increasing housing supply, improving affordability, and helping build stronger, more resilient communities for generations to come.”
Project contributions also include $3.9 million from Burnaby Housing Authority, $833,000 in City of Burnaby development cost charge credits, Metro Vancouver provided development cost charge waivers and $511,525 in TransLink development cost charge credits.
Construction began in March 2026 and is expected to be completed in September 2028. The project is being delivered in collaboration with Mosaic Homes.
