The playground at Jim Lorimer Park has been upgraded and rebuilt at a higher elevation to protect the play structures from rising water at nearby Still Creek. The new playground features a big play tower, a variety of swings and spinners, a dedicated toddler play area, inclusive play features and colourful rubber surfacing. Additional park improvements include a shade structure, more seating, accessible paved paths, a drinking fountain and misting post and new shade trees. Park construction took place over fall/winter 2025, with the playground opening on July 22, 2026.
The area around the shade structure is still under construction, and is expected to be completed and open by late summer 2026.
