The playground at Jim Lorimer Park is being upgraded and rebuilt at a higher elevation to protect the play structures from rising water at nearby Still Creek. The new playground will feature a big play tower, a variety of swings and spinners, a dedicated toddler play area, inclusive play features and colourful rubber surfacing. Additional park improvements include a shade structure, more seating, accessible paved paths, a drinking fountain and misting post and new shade trees. Park construction will take place over fall/winter 2025, with the playground opening in spring 2026.
What's happening now?
Construction has started as of October 2025. Site preparation will be followed by geotechnical and drainage improvements to improve the drainage of water from nearby Still Creek. Play structures will be installed in the winter, and final site improvements are expected to be completed in the spring.
